About Me

I'm a naturalist, birder, and butterfly watcher based in the San Francisco Bay Area. I've been birding since the late 1980s and got seriously into butterfly watching around 2000. Most of my field time is spent in and around San Francisco, though I travel whenever I can in search of new species. My life list stands at well over 5,700 bird species.

Scythebill

I'm the developer of Scythebill, a free, cross-platform bird records application used by birders worldwide to manage their life lists and trip records. Scythebill supports all major world taxonomies (eBird/Clements, IOC, and soon AviList) and can import and export in a variety of formats. It also supports world taxonomies for mammals, reptiles, amphibians, butterflies, odonates, and fish!
